Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership, 2012 Games

The decision to award London the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games on July 6, 2005 will always be remembered as a momentous day in the history of British Sport. When London bid to host the 2012 Games, it made a promise to the International Olympic Committee to not only deliver the best games ever and to inspire a generation of young people across the world to choose sport, but to also bring and share the benefits of hosting this prestigious event and once in a lifetime opportunity to the whole of the UK.

As a result in February 2006 the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games was formally established. Hosted by CSWP, the Partnership is a unique combination of private, public and voluntary organisations working together to maximise the opportunities around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to determine how Coventry and Warwickshire can be part of and contribute to making the 2012 Games a resounding success and to ensure that our sub-region derives real benefits from the games before, during and long after the event itself.

The Partnership is funded by Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council, Coventry Primary Care Trust, CV One, University of Warwick and Coventry University and is supported by CSW Sport, Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, Coventry Sports Foundation and Advent Communications. Following the symbolism of the five Olympic Rings, the work of the Partnership is currently concentrated across five key strategic themes including; Sport, Culture, Business, Tourism and Education.
